Until recently, however, it simply wasn’t a viable choice in the embedded space. That’s begun to change with projects like CircuitPython, and now it’s available on the Teensy 4.0!

CircuitPython 8.0.0-rc.1 is now available via the official GitHub release page by following the link below and brings with it a wealth of functionality.

The chip inside is an Atmel SAMD21E18A-U, and is apparently running Adafruit’s CircuitPython platform. This discovery led to further digging, of course.

CircuitPython is a full Python compiler and runtime that runs on the microcontroller hardware. “This is the third beta release of CircuitPython 6.0.0. It is relatively stable overall.
