The command prompt is simply a window that by default displays the current directory, or in windows term a folder, that you are in and has a blinking cursor ready for you to type your commands.
That tradition is still alive and well in both Windows 10 and Windows 11. In addition to running commands at the prompt, you’re able to control and customize the command window itself.
You can open the Command Prompt on a PC by right-clicking the Start icon, by searching for it, or by opening the Windows System folder.
