Until now, one thing common in online games was missing from Roblox: voice chat. Players communicated with each other entirely through text messages, or using pre-set actions and sound bites.

The Roblox team discusses how the additions point to where Roblox is starting to flex across platforms, into VR, and eventually maybe AR too.

Roblox is on both PC, mobile platforms, and console, but now, an updated chat feature will help the various versions communicate better!

However, Roblox’s free-to-use business model and 300,000-strong creator community (by company estimates) could make it a valuable proving ground for concepts that eventually shape the future of VR.
